The Wonder Puerto Princesa : Exploring the Forest City in 4-Days & 3-Nights

The planned vacation is finally on the road. Palawan has been considered as the last frontier.  Location, vegetation, enormous terrain, simple living, treasures  & tourist sposts name it and Palawan  definitely has it. One of the famous in this Philippine province is the highly urbanized yet forest city of Puerto Princesa which lies in the picturesque Honda Bay.

Day 1: Let's Familiarize The City

Jaja, Monie & The Couple Alfredz On Pose
We started our trip with a smile since we left Iloilo International Airporrt ahead of time. (Kudos to CEBU Pacific hindi kami late... 25 Minutes earlier). Since our call time with Kuya Dong (Mr. Do-It-All-for-Us) is at 10:30AM we waited for about 15 minutes. Upon his arrival, we were impressed with his tricycle - full of flowers. (Doon namin nalaman ang gruipo nilng "Frontliner" ang nakahilira tuwing may dumaong na cruiship.. High-Five for this project). We left our bag in our reserve room at Pension . We were impressed with the homey approach this pension has to offer. (More of the Pension House here)

Hindi na kmi nagpatumpik-tumpik pa! We started our tour with the pasalubong center .  The varieties of collectible items are just simply amazing. First tourist spot Puerto Princesa Cathedral at far we saw how this modern cathedral was built. It’s blue aesthetic makes it different from the usual we saw in Iloilo.  Beside this cathedral is the historical & full of battle cry landmark of Plaza Cuartel. Kuya Dodong also explained to us the value of this place. Despite of the drizzle we still managed to visit the Boulevard and I personally got surprised to know that the once full of informal settler area is now a wide plaza which everybody can stroll around. More of the place let’s got now to the private museum – the Battalion Memorial Museum which is full of battle gear way back world war two. A great effort from the owner to preserve this place and for the young to witness how the ancestors struggle just to give us freedom (pagmakabayan switched on.)

Nagutom sa kasusuot ng damit pangyera… We ate at around 1pm at the very famous and for me one of the kind  entrance of Badjao Restaurant. The food was so-so but the presentation & the restaurant itself is a must see.  As what we read in other blog Kuya Dong left us & he didn’t come with us for the lunch. Dahil busog na, kami naman ang kakainin ng mga buwaya. The Crocodile Farm & Wildlife Sanctuary housed some of the wild animals particularly the crocodile in captivity. Next is the Butterfly EcoGarden & Tribal Village unfortunately butterfly didn’t showed up.  Larvae in cocoons, stick insect, bugs & millipedes are those which are on display. Also the native tribe Palaw-a showcased their daily living tools; and their importance in Palawan civilization. So much of that we then went to Metras Ranch and their most photographed ancestral house (di na kmi pumasok dahil gutom na). Finally our last destination the 360 view are almost picturesque. Walang pigil si Kuya sa kaclick ng camera.  We then bought some of their famous baked products. Ang dami ng first day. We just bought lechon manok on our way home for dinner.
